________________

Ralph White grew up in the fervid 1970s/80s musical melting pot of Austin, Texas, and has spent 4 decades fusing Appalachian, Mexican, Cajun, French, Blues, Irish, Breton, African, Andean and General American Folk styles into a deeply immersive musical universe that is a true wonder to behold.

He’s recorded/performed with Santiago Jimenez, Michelle Shocked, Powell St. John, Michael Hurley, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, Bourrée Texane, Jandek, Jack Rose, Eugene Chadbourne, Sun City Girls’ Sir Richard Bishop, Bad Livers, Gulf Coast Playboys, Amy Annelle.

Free-flowing, hard-driving, hypnotic and passionate, his music pursues pathways nobody’s ever gone down – or even suspected was there – until Ralph showed the way.

“Scratching banjo, rasping train whistle hollers, rolling kalimba, rousing accordion, taut shimmers of guitar, caustic fiddle and lyrics that could have been hidden amongst the dusty inner groove of a lost Harry Smith 78, weaving in-and-out of streams of consciousness, time and place.” — Forced Exposure on Ralph White’s “It’s More in My Body Than in My Mind” album
